Police discovered about a quarter-pound of marijuana during a traffic stop Tuesday in Cedar Rapids.
Aaron D. Secor, 26, no known address, was arrested after officers found 115 grams of marijuana in his pickup, according to a police report. Most of it was stashed inside an ammunition box, police said.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said officers originally stopped the pickup around 11:10 p.m. because it did not have rear plate, but soon realized that Secor was barred from driving.
Secor was charged a drug tax stamp violation and driving while barred - habitual offender. Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden said there was insufficient evidence to prove Secor had intent to deliver the marijuana.
"I was not convinced the evidence showed he was trafficking," Vander Sanden wrote in an e-mail.
Vander Sanden said the drug tax stamp violation is a class D felony, which carries the same penalty as a possession with intent to deliver charge.
