Dec. 28, 2017 9:30 pm
IOWA CITY - The word 'interim” has been dropped from Neighborhood and Development Services director Tracy Hightshoe's title.
Hightshoe has been chosen to replace Doug Boothroy, who worked for the city for 40 years before retiring in September.
Hightshoe previously worked as the city's neighborhood services coordinator.
The Neighborhood and Development Services Department includes the offices for housing inspections and urban planning, among others.
Hightshoe also will oversee transportation planning efforts with the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County, according to a city news release.
'She is a proven collaborative leader who excels in finding solutions through community partnerships,” city manager Geoff Fruin said in the release.
Hightshoe has 16 years of experience with the city and hold a bachelor's degree in public administration from the University of Northern Iowa, according to the city.
