Kovacik, Michael J.
Michael J. Kovacik, 97, a resident of Living Center East, died there Saturday. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by Hanford American Legion Post 5. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sisters, Ann Barta and Sue Roth, both of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother, Paul; and a sister, Midge Gearhart.
Michael was born Sept. 21, 1912, in Argo, Ill., to Joseph and Anna Kovacik. He married Angela M. Barta on Jan. 30, 1946, in Solon, Iowa. She died in 2007. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and worked in the administrative office at Wilson's Foods for many years. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and Hanford American Legion Post 5. He enjoyed bowling, and traveling in Europe and North America.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
