We cannot sit back and live in fear

To the editor:
Regarding the letter Nov. 19 letter by Gordon Taylor 'We cannot turn our backs on refugees”:
Religion has nothing to do with the United States refusing or allowing refugees to enter this country. The only thing that matters is if the person is safe or not. The U.S. has an extensive background check that refugees must go through before they can leave their country. This process is effective. To be afraid is understandable, but to be afraid and not protect yourself is not the best situation.
The government needs to continue to fight with other countries to defeat this awful organization. To sit back and live in fear is not what this country is about.
