Cohrt, Gary W.
Gary W. Cohrt, 60, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the Van Horne City Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.
A memorial fund has been established.
Gary was born Nov. 27, 1952, in Belle Plaine, to Edward and Martha (Furler) Cohrt and graduated from Benton Community High School in 1971.
Gary had owned the Van Horne Lounge and served as plant, manager of Farm Service in Vinton for many years. He loved Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Adam) Kaiser of Van Horne; his granddaughter, Laurynn; his mother, Martha Cohrt of Vinton; his brother, Michael (Kathy) Cohrt of Shellsburg; and his sisters, Joyce Thompson of Ellsworth, Wis. and Janet (Joe) Cohrt of Beloit, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward “Red” Cohrt; and his brother, Terry Cohrt.
