Marx, Edwin L.
Edwin L. Marx, 89, of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God. The Rev. Rick Gail will officiate. Burial, with military rites: Campbell Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Clara; three daughters, Linda (Dave) Stoneking of Springville, Rita (Richard) Peyton of Manassas, Va., and Sherry (Louie) Gray of Osakis, Minn.; four sons, John (Bonnie) Peal of Marion, Chuck Peal of Mount Vernon, Gary (Sandra) Marx of Olympia, Wash., and Kevin (Mia) Marx of Shellsburg; and one brother, Donald of Marion. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert.
Ed was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Wellsville, N.Y., the son of Edward and Cora Clymer Marx. He married Clara E. Taylor on June 28, 1960, in Miami, Mo. Ed worked in the model shop at Collins Radio for over 29 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of First Assembly of God, Marion American Legion Post 298 and proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Ed was an avid bowler, enjoyed pitching horseshoes, restoring old cars and in earlier years was an outstanding baseball and softball player.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who was greatly loved and will be forever missed.
Memorial donations may be given to the First Assembly of God Senior Ministry in Ed's name.
