ELVIS L. EAKES
Williamsburg
Elvis L. Eakes, 73, of rural Williamsburg, died Friday evening, Sept. 21, 2018, at his home, just where he wanted to be.
Elvis was born April 25, 1945, in Iowa City, the son of Harley and Marguerite Eakes. Growing up in Iowa City, Elvis attended school there, including University High School. He eventually began a long career with L.L. Pelling Asphalt that spanned over 37 years. Elvis enjoyed a simple life, enjoyed working on his Chevys and Allis-Chalmers, and cruising the gravel roads of the area with a cold one in his hand. Nothing fancy, just Elvis!
His family includes his son, Travis Eakes (Michaela Cole); his grandson, Dameon; brothers, Dallas Eakes and Wade Eakes; and his sister, Harlene Hall.
Elvis was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dawn Bream.
In keeping with Elvis's wishes and life, no services are being planned. Cremation services were provided through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City. To share a thought, memory or condolence, please visit the funeral home website at www.gayandciha.com.
