Lavenz, Gerald (Jerry) Joseph
Gerald (Jerry) Joseph Lavenz, 63, of Sabula, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at home. A memorial service will be held at Knights of Columbus, 716 A Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, with family and friends gathering at the home of Tim Lavenz, 275 Woodland Ct., Hiawatha, immediately following service.
Jerry was born Sept. 24, 1949, to Mathias and Edith (Knebel) Lavenz. He was the proud father of Kevin (Jessica) Lavenz, Eva Lavenz, Mike (Brandy) Lavenz and Barb (Dean) Sturgeon.
Even at a young age he displayed signs of mechanical aptitude which later transferred to a distinguished engineering career. He had created several patented processes at various companies. He was modest in his accomplishments but enjoyed spending time with family and friends and riding his Harley.
