Klein, Ruby (Cowell)
Ruby (Cowell) Klein, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday. May 26, 2012. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Will Jackson. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
She was born May 16, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Harley and Thelma Powell Cowell. She married Arlo Klein on Aug. 31, 1957, at Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, Iowa. They farmed in the Postville area before moving to the Cedar Rapids area. She worked at Collins Radio, LeFebure Corp., Norand, Rockwell Collins in Coralville and David's Bridal. She was a long time Presbyterian and a member of the Hus Memorial Presbyterian Church and past worthy matron of Marion O.E.S. #183. She attended grade school in rural Allamakee County and Waukon High School.
Survivors include daughter, Judi (Jon) Sandler of Lithia, Fla.; son, Steve (JoAnne) of Urbana; and son, Kerry (Nadine) of Hiawatha.
She is also survived by brothers, Jim (Joi) Cowell of McGregor, and Donald (Pat) Cowell of Spencer; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlo; her mother, Thelma; her father, Harley; a brother, Dewey Cowell; and a sister, Ethel Odegard.
Ruby loved gardening, bird watching, bell ringing and playing Yatzee with her friends at Garnett Place.
