Stolba, Kurt Lee
Kurt Lee Stolba, 57, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011, in Rapid City, S.D., while doing what he loved, riding his Harley. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Interment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Cherie of Wilton; sons, Shannon Stolba of Tipton, and Zach and his wife, Tricia Sours of Illinois City, Ill.; two granddaughters, Zoey Stolba and Claire Sours; two grandsons, Cole and Chase Sours; his parents, Leo and Carol Stolba of Marion; his sister, Teresa Stolba; and his brother, Tim and his wife, Cara Stolba of Cedar Rapids.
He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Faye and Louis Brammeier of Wilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his great-niece, Brittany VanDervoort.
Kurt was born Sept. 30, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School in 1972, and from Scott Community College. He married Cheryl Brammeier on Dec. 8, 1999, in Tipton.
Kurt was a machinist at Gerdau Ameristeel, Wilton, for 33 years.
He was a member of HOGS and USW Local 8581. He loved riding his Harley and enjoyed cooking and grilling. Above all, he loved his family and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his hardy laugh.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
