Harley D. "Bud" Emrich, 67, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. The Very Rev. Rudolph Juarez will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to The American Cancer Society.
Bud was born Aug. 28, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Horace and Aurdena (Sweet) Emrich. Growing up in Tipton, he graduated from Iowa City High School. Bud worked for many years in the kitchens at the Iowa Memorial Union and later with University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
He very much enjoyed his favorite television shows and watching movies. He also liked to listen to Elvis and frequented the Dairy Queens as often as possible.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Robertson (Joe) of Iowa City; nieces, Joanna Robertson, Elizabeth (Joe Fulton) Jenkins and Heather (Nathan) Loucks; great-nieces and great-nephews, Michelle, Scott, Stevie, Ella, Adella and Kelton.
His parents died before him.
