CRAG’s Megan Kiesey, Maya Burhart shine in early competitions

The club gymnastics season kicked off this month and area clubs, as usual, are grabbing their fare share of gold medals.
Here is a look at what's been happening during October.
CRAG STRIKES GOLD AT 3 MEETS
Megan Kiesey and Maya Burkhart of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics got the season started last month, capturing multiple gold at the Judges Cup. Kiesey won four events - vault, beam, floor exercise and all around - in Level 4 while Burkhart captured the vault, beam and all around in Level 3. Aniyah Lederle won the beam and floor in Level 4.
Chloe Carney (floor) also won in Level 3, Mackenzie Avery (bars) in Level 4, and Maddie Tumilty (bars), Addison Appelhans (beam) and Anna Wever (beam) won in Level 5. Lexie Goldsmith and Autumn Poston were Level 5 placewinners.
Burkhart and Kiesey continued their hot start at the Twistin' to the Top meet earlier this month, Burkhart capturing four gold (vault, bars, beam and all around) in Level 3, Kiesey taking three (vault, beam and all around) in Level 4. Poston also was a triple winner, taking gold in the vault, floor and all around in Level 5 and Weaver won the bars and beam.
Other winners were Grace Sherman (bars), Lederle (beam) and Asia Russell (bars) in Level 4 and Goldsmith (beam) in Level 5. Placewinners were Chloe Carney and Shayla Comstock in Level 3, Avery and Lanie Wood in Level 4 and Allison Hayes ins Level 5.
Poston was CRAG's the big winner at the Jump Jivin' Invitational, capturing the beam, floor and all around in Level 5, Burkhart (vault, floor) and Carney (vault) won in Level 3, Kiesey (floor) and Lederle (beam) in Level 4 and Goldsmith (vault) in Level 5. Placewinners were Comstock in Level 3, Wood in Level 4 and Weaver in Level 5.
SOMERSAULTS DUO CAPTURES GOLD
Mia Frame and Paisley Joens of Somersaults Gymnastics won gold at Chow's Rising Stars Flip of a Cure Invitational earlier this month. Both in Level 3, Frame won the balance beam, Joens the floor exercise.
Somersaults' top-three placewinners were Alyssa Jarchow and Cassidy Fangmann in Level 3, Addilyn Wade in Level 4, and Paige Hacke in Level 5.
Frame also won gold at the Twistin' to the Top meet, taking the Level 3 beam title.
MOSER SHINES AT WOODHULL
Eight members of the Moser School of Dance and Gymnastic won titles at a USTA Power Tumbling here last weekend.
Paige Kremer, Gabrielle Guilford, Katelin Ante, Taylor Mullis, Kennedi Bevans, Tucker Erickson, Laura Pierschbacher and Aaliyah Rosenthal won gold while Carter Phillips, Reagan Brown, Hannabelle Erickson, Cheyenne Varner, Brooklin Ante, Isabel Lutgen, Adysen Frieden, Zoey Hyde, Starrlynn Brockob and Brody Ries placed second.
Third place finishers were Claire Jaeger, Mikya Britton, Alexa Ries, Kyle Peck, Lexus Fleming, Kael Peck and Lilly Shaw.
