Daniel Raymond Butler, 17, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Services at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Wind and Fire Ministries, Robins, with an additional visitation one hour before the service. After the service on Friday, there will be a bonfire and candle/lantern release. Family will greet friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his parents, Mike and Marci Butler of Cedar Rapids; grandparents, Gayle and Mike Tubbs of Cedar Rapids and Nancy and Stu Gorius of Arizona; siblings, Rachel Miller, Tanner Tubbs, Jason Phelps and Michael Butler, all of Cedar Rapids; aunts and uncles, Larry and Amy Tubbs of Springville and Dani and Doug Foster of Arizona; and cousins, Alyssa of Springville and Johnie, Whitney and Abbey, all of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Wilma Tubbs and Raymond, Helen Tuetken and Charlene Casperson; two cats, Zoey Butler and Samson Butler; and dog, Christian Butler.
Daniel was born on Aug. 14, 1998, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Mike and Marci Butler. He attended Jefferson High School, Cedar Rapids. Daniel worked at Burger King in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the First Assembly of God and Wind and Fire Ministries. Daniel enjoyed four wheeling, dirt biking, amusement rides, adventure, playing his Xbox, reading the book of Daniel, working and most of all he loved his family, friends and his dog, Izzy.
