Victim of fatal dump truck crash identified
UPDATE: The person who died when a truck crashed into the Iowa River south of Iowa City Monday morning has been identified as Timothy Russell, 53.
Emergency crews were first called to the scene, along Isaak Walton Road just south of Iowa City, around 9 a.m. Monday.
First responders from the Iowa City and Hills fire departments brought rescue boats to the scene. Crews battled heavy rain and lightning until about 10 a.m.
Russell's body was recovered inside the truck after crews arrived on the scene. At this time it is still not known why or how the truck ended up in the river.
An autopsy will be done on the body to determine a cause of death, according to a news release.
