Thomas, Emagene Katherine Krause
Emagene Katherine Krause Thomas, 96, of Springville, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Springville Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends one hour before service at the church on Saturday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her two daughters, Maryln Horn of Cedar Rapids and Shirley (Don) Stentz of Springville; a foster son, William (Grace) Bradley of Mission, Texas; a granddaughter, Heather Horn of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Dr. Dale Stentz of Naperville, Ill.; four foster grandchildren, Laurie, Lucy, Lois and Martha; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Florence Dukek; her two husbands, Harold Krause and Virgil Thomas; one brother, Don; one sister, Marge; one grandson, David Bradley; and one nephew, David Brunscheen.
Emagene was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Alburnett, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Goodrow) Dukek. She graduated from Alburnett High School and Lenox College in Hopkinton, Iowa. Emagene taught school in Palo, Toddville, Alburnett, Viola, and Springville.
She was a lifelong member of the Springville Presbyterian Church. The two most important things to Emagene were God and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Springville Memorial Library or Springville Fire Department in Emagene's memory.
