William "Bill" Morris Anderegg was born March 24, 1943, in Edgewood, Iowa, the son of Urey and Dorothy (Bond) Anderegg. Bill died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 73 years.
Bill graduated from Edgewood High School in 1961 and Wartburg College in 1965. He was united in marriage to Barbara Harbaugh in 1961 and they had three children: Dawn, Renee and Scott. On Jan. 18, 1998, Bill was united in marriage to Marilyn "Joan" (Whitehead) Netten.
After graduating from Wartburg, Bill moved to Keota and was an avid sports enthusiast. His favorite teams included the Keota Eagles, Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. He loved golfing with friends, playing cards, fishing, raising and showing sheep, and anything that involved spending time with his family.
He taught and coached in Keota from 1965 to 1976, worked at the Farmers Co-op for 27 years, and then owned and operated Keota Eagle Foods until his retirement in 2010.
Bill was a member of United Church of Faith, Masonic Lodge, Kaaba Shrine, Keota High School board, Lagos Acres board and Washington County 4-H sheep department. He was a founding member of the Keota QRS team and a youth sports coach. Some of his proudest moments were coaching conference-winning basketball teams and being an assistant coach for the Keota 1989 1A state basketball championship team.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joan, of Keota; three children, Dawn (Randy) Anderegg-Radloff of Kalona, Renee (Scott) Sieren of Keota and Scott (Mary) Anderegg of Sussex, Wis.; two stepchildren, Lisa (Wes) Foster of Des Moines and Brian Netten of St. Paul, Minn.; five grandchildren, Staci (Tyler) Friese, Shelby (Tyler) Romoser, Shawna Sieren, Hanna Anderegg and Madison Anderegg; three stepgrandchildren, Sydney, Jaclyn and Quincy Foster; a brother, Gordon (Regina) Anderegg of Edgewood; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Anderegg of Edgewood and Audrey Anderegg of Manchester; a mother-in-law, Louise Whitehead of Oskaloosa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and James; and granddaughter, Stephanie Sieren.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, at United Church of Faith in Keota, with Pastor Wes Foster officiating. Burial will be in Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 20, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota.
A memorial fund has been established for Keota QRS, Keota Athletic Boosters and United Church of Faith.
