Donna May Swenson, 71, of Van Horne, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, following a courageous battle with cancer. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne, conducted by the Rev. David Lingard. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Donna was born May 2, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Donna (Phillips) Harford. On June 20, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, she was united in marriage to Leland Swenson. Donna was baptized May 28, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha and confirmed on Jan. 10, 2010, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne where she was involved in missionary work through the church. Donna was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted her life to her grandkids and loved her church family.

She is survived by her children, Brian (Connie) Swenson, Karen (Mike) Knight and Lee Swenson Jr. all of Van Horne; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey, Heather, Andrew, Madison, Ryan, Emily and Brianna; a great-grandchild, Ava; siblings, John (Judy) Harford, Delbert Harford, Charlie McNitt, Terry (Diana) Harford and Carol (Butch) Longerbeam; and many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Leland.

A memorial fund in Donna's memory has been established.

Donna wanted to express her heartfelt thanks to Brian and Connie Swenson and Karen and Mike Knight for always being there for her, and also to her sister, Carol, who was always her right hand man, and her loving brother, Terry Boy.
