Donald Francis Berns, 81, of Garnavillo, Iowa, died Monday, April 9, 2018, at Elkader Care Center in Elkader, Iowa.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lee Berns of Garnavillo and Dee (John) Hense of Strawberry Point; grandchildren, NaTasha, Dustin (fiancee Kara Winch), Dalton Berns and Matthew Hense; one great-granddaughter, Adaline Marie Berns; three sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Kann of Garnavillo, Jane (David) Siegel of Cedar Rapids and Jeanette (Pat) Thein of Colesburg; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn, in 2015; brother, Norman Berns; and sister, Mary Schmitz.
Arrangements are being handled by Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, 001 S. Industrial Park Rd., Garnavillo, Iowa, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:55 a.m. Monday, April 16. Funeral services will be at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, with the Rev. Marvin Bries officiating. Interment will be at Garnavillo Community Cemetery.
