Steven C. Vick, 53, of Cedar Rapids, passed April 14, 2016, peacefully at his home surrounded by family after a valiant and courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
He was born Feb. 22, 1963, in Cedar Rapids to Adison and Donna (Blankenhorn) Vick. Steve graduated from Kennedy High School and continued his education with a degree from Kirkwood Community College. Steve was employed at Elmcrest Country Club since 1997. He enjoyed his work and loved all the friendships he developed there.
Steve was an avid golfer and was a devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Dallas Cowboys. Steve loved spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors. Steve was a man of integrity with a great love and devotion to his family.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, grandfather and uncle, Doug.
Steve is survived by his mother, Donna, of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Pamela Kay (Preston) of Salt Lake City and Laura Huffaker (Mike) of McCune, Kan.; grandmother, Ardice Blankenhorn; nieces and nephews, Robert, Luke, Ashley (Aaron), Keilani, Kamryn, Jarred, Layne and Jaelynn; aunt, Jackie; and a very special friend, Michelle Prosser.
A celebration of life will be Monday April 18, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1000 Third Ave, SE, in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society in behalf of Steve's name.
