GERALD E. BADGER
Manchester
Gerald E. Badger, 87, of Manchester, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017. In agreement with Gerald's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. Arrangements with Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester.
Gerald was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Rollo, Mo., the son of Thomas and Ruth (Green) Badger. He received his master's in education and Bachelor of Science in history and religion from the University of Iowa. Gerald taught for many years in both Iowa and Illinois, teaching in Freeport, Ill., at the junior high from 1966 until his retirement.
He married his first wife, Margaret Jean Hines, in 1950. He married Mary Houlahan on Oct. 6, 1989. Gerald loved gardening and reading. He loved his dog, Buddy, who was his constant companion. He was his wife Mary's sole protector and guardian, telling her he loved her more than life itself.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Houlahan-Badger; children, John (Sue) Badger, Debra (John) Hartman, Bryon Badger and Joseph (Laura) Badger; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bryant Badger.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his son, Paul Badger; and brothers, Thomas Badger and Charles Badger.
