Police responded to a Cedar Rapids motel Tuesday for a report of suspicious behavior, and officers later found evidence of drug use in one of the rooms.
Management at Super 8, 720 33rd Ave. SW, called police around 8 p.m. to report a guest that had sprayed an excessive amount of air freshener in the hallway. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said when the man answered the door to his room, officers smelled marijuana inside.
Devon Thompson, 26, of 2135 North Towne Ct. NE, No. 5, is accused of slamming the door on an officer's foot when police told him they needed to secure the room for a search warrant.
During the search, police found marijuana stems, baggies and multiple blunts, according to the police report.
Thompson was arrested on suspicion of disorderly house and interference with official acts. He was taken to the Linn County Jail. A female who was also inside the room was not charged with a crime, police said.
