Remembering Nick Adenhart
Sunday, June 20, 2010 was a special day at Veterans Memorial Stadium for many reasons, but what made it most memorable was the ceremony that took place prior to the game.
Dedicated to keeping former Kernels pitcher Nick Adenhart's memory alive, his image and number 21 were unveiled on the left-centerfield wall in front of the teams, fans, friends and his family. Nick's mother and stepfather, Janet and Duane Gigeous were in Cedar Rapids "where Nick's career started" to present the Kernels Foundation with a very generous check for $5,000 from the Nick Adenhart Memorial Fund.
The donation will be used to award a scholarship to a local baseball player to pursue his education and baseball career in Nick's memory.
