Thomas A. Boggianno Chmelicek, 65, of Florence, Ore., died from cancer on Dec. 15, 2014, at his home in Florence.
Tom was born Dec. 21, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Joseph and Darlene (Claes) Chmelicek. He attended LaSalle High School and earned his bachelor's degree in business at Mount Mercy University. He worked in retail for years at Osco Drug, Sav-on-Drugs, Bi-Mart, Rite Aid and K-Mart and went on to own Seagull Tavern and Riley's Steak House in Florence. Tom married Donna Boggiano on Feb. 23, 1989, in Eugene, Ore.
Tom is survived by wife, Donna; three stepchildren, Kathy, Michael and James; and stepgrandson, Jay, of Oregon.
Also surviving is his mother, Darlene Chmelicek of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, James (Sue) of Albuquerque, N.M., Michael (Kathy) of Hiawatha and Joseph (Peggy) of Independence, Mo.; and a sister, Christine Stolba (Scott Boeckelmann) of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Chmelicek in June 2002.
At Tom's request services were held Dec. 22 at Burn's Riverside Chapel with burial at Pacific Sunset Cemetery in Florence.
A memorial will be held in Cedar Rapids at a time to be announced later.
