Desmond Thomas (Tom) Peltier, 95, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Surviving are his children, Sheryle Riley of Dubuque, Gary Peltier of Maquoketa, Cynthia (Ron) Davis of Toddville and Jeffrey (Lisa) Peltier of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (2009); his parents; son, Steve Peltier; granddaughter, Lori Riley; and son-in-law, Lawrence Riley.
Tom was born June 10, 1921, in Winona, Minn. He was the son of Thomas and Jessie Peloquin Peltier. On June 1, 1941, Tom and Virginia were united in marriage. Tom served his country in the Army Air Corps from July 1943 to December 1945. Tom worked as an electrical foreman for Cedar Rapids Incorporated, until retiring in 1985. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
