Susan J. Schmitt-Rairdin, 64, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Mercy Medical
Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral & Cremation Service, Cedar
Rapids, conducted by Pastor Mel Ramos. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Rairdin of Cedar Rapids; son, Christopher Schmitt of Cedar Rapids; stepsons, David (Denise) Rairdin of Des Moines, Darrell (Tami) Rairdin of Cedar Rapids and Dennis (Sonya) Rairdin of Bellevue, Neb.; grandchildren, Sean, Kathryn, Dylan, Sarah, Emily, Zachary, Nina, Travis, Kaylynn, Easton, Ashlyn and Audi; and siblings, Roger (Mary) Roff and Patricia Higgins, both of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and Christopher's
father, David "Mike" Schmitt.
Susan was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of
Edward and Verna (Anderson) Roff. She worked at Square D for 42 years. Susan married Jim Rairdin in August 1997. She spent many years working with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Susan enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid racing fan. She was a member of Hus Presbyterian Church.
