Harland R. Pomeroy, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2018, at UnityPoint St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Concordia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brad Brown. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, at Teahen Funeral Home, and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, at the church.
Harland is survived by his mother, Dorothy; his brother, Brian of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Ronda of Amarillo, Texas; his nephew, Brett (Amanda) and their daughters, Riley and Kinze; his niece, Brianne (Chad) Bakkum and their daughter, Mila.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Harland was born on Aug. 31, 1959, in Watertown, S.D., son of Bruce and Dorothy Thomas Pomeroy. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1977. He obtained a welding degree from Kirkwood Community College and was a bull rider. In May 1982, Harland suffered a neck fracture at Lake McBride. After his accident, he went on to receive a business degree from the University of Iowa.
Harland enjoyed listening to country music and watching the "Game of Thrones."
For the past three years, Harland has resided at Heritage Acres and Specialty Care, and his family would like to give a special thanks to the staff for their loving care.
