Fielder, John E.
John E. Fielder, 51, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital from an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his mother, Grace Fielder; siblings, Danny (Sheila) Arenas Sr., Jody Beltram, Nancy (Russell) Borkowski, Stephen Fielder, David (Mary) Fielder and Mona Fielder; special niece and nephew, Brittany and Curtis Washington; and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle, and cousins.
He is also survived by many good friends, including Kevin McIntyre and Joe Spivie.
He was preceded in death by his father; Henry North Fielder; nephew, Justin Fielder; former sister-in-law, Nancy Jane Fielder; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
John was born April 13, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Henry and Grace (Rodriguez) Fielder. He loved caring for his mother, Grace and enjoyed keeping his family and friends up to date and informed with daily phone calls about current events and family history. He was known as “Coach Juan” when watching his brothers play softball and he liked to hang out at CJ's where he would watch his brother, Jody play pool. John was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
A memorial fund has been established.
