Eric R. Linge Sr., 60, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, as the result of an accident at home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Eric Robert Linge Sr. was born Sept. 10, 1954, to Carl Scott and Elaine Roberts Linge in West Union, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science in agriculture in 1978. He married his high school sweetheart, Wendy Robin DeSotel, on Aug. 25, 1979, in Fayette, Iowa. He began his career in 1978 in farm management. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of AXA Equitable AgriFinance. Eric enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Mississippi River, skiing, woodworking and was an overall outdoorsman. He also was a Boy Scout leader when his son was in scouts. Eric will be forever remembered as an exceptional husband, father, brother and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy; son, Eric (Christine) Linge, Jr. of Chicago; daughter, Rachel (Kevin Fray) Linge of Washington, D.C.; brother, Scott (Jan) Linge of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Marti (Bill) Jensen of Cedar Rapids and their children, Laura, Scott and Erica; brother-in-law, Dennis (Sandy) DeSotel of Berthoud, Colo.; and cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family members and many friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Neola DeSotel Hartman; and brother-in-law, Ronald DeSotel.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family; funds will be used for land and habitat conservation in Iowa.
