Kris A. Cessna, 51, of Hiawatha, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.
She was born Dec. 18, 1959, in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Clair and Amy (Buckridge) Smith. She married John R. Cessna Aug. 10, 1985.
She taught at Capri Cosmetology College and then was employed as attendance secretary at Cedar Rapids Kennedy. She was most recently administrative secretary at Garfield Elementary.
She is survived by her husband, John of Hiawatha; son, Michael of Hiawatha; mother, Amy Smith of Waterloo; three brothers, Frederick Smith of Park Ride, N.J., Neil Smith of Seattle, Wash., and Gary Smith of Waterloo; and two sisters, Kathy (Lloyd) Bettis of Chicago, and Carolyn Smith of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at South Church of the Brethren, Waterloo, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and also one hour before services Monday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to Garfield Elementary School or Cedar Rapids Kennedy “Happiness” Show Choir.
