Vincent J. Bartunek, 85, of Denver, died Sept. 20, 2015. He was born June 21, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Vincent Bartunek Sr. and Blanch Antonia Kubalek. He married Donna M. Smith on June 18, 1959.
Mr. Bartunek was a career printer. He originally owned a newspaper in Elgin, Iowa, from 1959 until 1965, but then moved his family to Cedar Rapids so they could enjoy the opportunities of a larger city. He spent the rest of his career with the Cedar Rapids Gazette and Stamats Publishing.
His hobbies included dancing with his beloved wife, photography, ham radio, canoeing, hiking, walking and following the Iowa Hawkeyes.
His wife, Donna; one sister and one brother, Aleta Smith and Robert Bartunek, preceded Mr. Bartunek in death.
Survivors include his sister, Helenka Claypool of Williamsburg; daughter, Linn Tanabe of Denver; eight nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Edward Rocca and his two daughters of Muscatine.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library in the Hruska Room.
