Smith, Doris G.
Doris G. Smith, 82, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness. Private services will be held at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Jack McClure, C.PP.S officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.
A Memorial Fund has been established.
Doris was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Ottumwa to Ray and Lena (Box) Deburn and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1947. On Nov. 25, 1948, she was united in marriage to Edward Smith in Ottumwa. Before her retirement, Doris was employed on the assembly lines of Collins in Cedar Rapids and Amana in Amana.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; son, Philip Smith of Keystone; daughter, Janet Smith of Van Horne; grandchildren, Jarod (Carrie) Smith of Blairstown, and Thomas Smith of Van Horne; great-granddaughter, Anessa Smith; and daughter-in-law, Trice Smith of Keystone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Thomas and Edward; grandson, Aaron Smith; three brothers; and three sisters.
