Darrell Eugene Washburn, 69, of Riverside, formerly of American Falls, Idaho, died at home Friday, Dec. 2, 2016. A memorial service will be held in January when all of the family can be together.
Survivors include his wife, Diana K. Washburn; children, Joshua Washburn, Jennifer St. Germain, Kelly (Johnnie) Ball and Goldie Washburn; brothers, Randy Washburn of Challis, Idaho, and Wendell (Cindy) Gould of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Donella Gould of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother-in-law, Denny, and sister-in-law, Sheri Lytle; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets, Pepper, Krunch, Maci and Cali.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Washburn Gould; father, Jack Washburn; and stepfather, Charles Gould.
Darrell was born Sept. 19, 1947, in American Falls, Idaho, and graduated from Boys Town in Omaha before moving to Marion, Iowa, in 1966. He enlisted in the Army in 1967, serving in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1969. He worked several jobs until 1998, when he apprenticed into IBEW Local 405 as a journeyman electrician. He retired in 2010 to his home in Riverside. He and his wife, Diana, were married for 31 years. He lived his life as he chose.
