Donna M. Smith, 89, of Manchester, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at United Methodist Church in Delhi, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi. Arrangements by Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Manchester.
Donna is survived by her children, Randa New of Hillsboro, Ore., Carroll "Smiley" (Maureen Welter) Smith of Hillsboro and Valerie (Michael) Leedom of Waterloo; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Smith; sisters, Dorothy Little, Pauline Saunders and Velma Lubben; and a brother, Paul Gienapp Jr.
Donna was born March 8, 1927, near Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Elva (Culdice) Gienapp. She was a graduate of Delhi High School. On June 10, 1946, Donna married Dean E. Smith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hopkinton. Together, the couple farmed in the Delhi and Ryan areas. She worked as a cook in the Maquoketa Valley High School lunch program for more than 20 years.
Donna was a member of Delhi United Methodist Church and active in the American Legion Auxiliary.
