Gladys Mae Zwicki was born on Mother's Day, May 8, 1932, in Iowa City, the daughter of Emil J. and Stella (Jones) Zwicki. Growing up in Iowa City, she attended schools here, graduating from City High School, Class of 1951. For over 23 years, she worked as a machine operator for Oral-B in Iowa City, retiring at the age of 65.
Gladys had a strong faith in God. She served faithfully as his quiet soldier, working behind the scenes. You could often find Gladys readying things for a cookie walk or church bazaar or collecting items for the church's free lunch program.
