Louvar, Henry 'Rudy'
Henry “Rudy” Louvar, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at West Ridge Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Ave. NW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before services Wednesday at Brosh Chapel.
Rudy was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Central City, the son of Henry and Emma (Kratochvil) Louvar. He married Gladys A. Novotny on April 30, 1946, in Ely. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Rudy was a member of the Swisher American Legion.
Rudy is survived by his son, Doug Louvar of Toddville; daughter, Denise (Steven) Meek of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Tony of Toddville, Tim (Abbie) of Fort Wayne, Ind., Tamara of Williamsburg and Todd (Amber) of Cedar Rapids; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Ethan, Sierra, Jordan, Brandon and Gabrielle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Louvar; brothers, Emmet Louvar and Gilbert Louvar; and his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Louvar.
