Braun, Carol Jean (Karns)
Carol Jean (Karns) Braun, 67, of Marion, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion, by the Rev. Blair Frank. Visitation from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville.
She is survived by her husband, Garen; four children, Rhonda Smith, Georgia (Robert), Kathy Conway and Damon Braun; three grandchildren, Alex Smith, and Bridget and Brooke Devereux; and two stepgrandchildren, Gabrielle and Kelly Devereux.
Carol was born May 27, 1943, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of George and Bernice (Dittmer) Karns. She married Garen Braun on June 8, 1974, in Marion. Many years ago, she worked as a cook and server for Ole's Ham & Egger in Marion. Most recently she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Viers; and a half brother, Howard Prosser.
