A 25-year-old Nebraska woman was arrested for prostitution and possession of a controlled substance Friday at the Super 8 motel in Coralville.
Reports indicate that Celestina O. Valdez, of Scottsbluff, Neb., originally came into contact with officers after they were dispatched to the motel for the smell of marijuana coming from Valdez's room. During an investigation, officers reported that Valdez smelled strongly of marijuana, and a small amount of marijuana was located in her purse.
Valdez was arrested for prostitution after a man that she was with in the room said that he met Valdez after she posted an advertisement offering "adult entertainment escorts" online. The man said he had been in contact with her via text messaging and her website and had paid Valdez $100 for an erotic massage and sex.
While under Miranda, Valdez allegedly admitted to giving the man an "adult message," Coralville Police said.
Coralville police chief Barry Bedford said that although the behavior of the man involved is not condoned in any way, he was apparently not charged with any crimes because of his cooperation and ability to provide information about the incident.
Valdez was being held at the Johnson County Jail Monday morning on a $7,500 bond.
