Herren, Maxine Mae
Maxine Mae Herren, 84, of Marion, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at her daughter's home in Marion. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids. Tammy Buseman, chaplain with Hospice of Mercy, will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Kathy (Jim) Capes of Kent, Wash., Karen (Max) Christensen of Marion, Kevin (Trina) Herren of Marion and Kent (Shelley) Herren of Anamosa; a sister, Margurite (Arthur) Koehler, brother-in-law, Richard Wallace, and half brother, Forest Wennermark, all of Cedar Rapids; and 10 grandchildren, Kelsey, Shana, Kayla, Lauren, Kye, Jordan, C. J., Meghan, Dylan and Ethan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and twin sister, Maureen Wallace.
Maxine was born June 12, 1925, in Masonville, Iowa, to Herman and Alyce Rainbird Wennermark. She married Melvin W. Herren on Oct. 20, 1957, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Before her marriage she had worked in production at Collins Radio. Since then she was a full-time homemaker. She loved to bake, do flower gardening, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Mercy.
