Lowell Ellis Sisson, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday after 10 a.m. Burial: Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Connie; three children, Michael (Deborah) Sisson and Peggy (Tim) Floming, both of Cedar Rapids, and Clark (Sandy) Sisson of Omaha, Neb.; three grandsons, Tyler, Nick and Logan Sisson; three brothers, Jim (Doris), Paul (Bev) and Duane (Burt); two sisters, Sharla Boros and Kathy (Dave) Schollman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Laura Lee Sisson; and brothers-in-law, Dr. J.C. Smith and Steve Boros.
Lowell was born April 24, 1932, in Atlanta, Ga., the son of Ralph Sisson and Cheryll Sisson Alyea. He graduated in 1950 from Waterloo West High School, where he was that year's most valuable athlete. He then proudly was appointed to the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., and graduated in 1954 with the distinction of the academy's most valuable athlete. Lowell served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957. Lowell married Constance Smith on Sept. 25, 1954, in Nashua at the Little Brown Church.
