Irvin J. Dingbaum, 81, of Oelwein, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 19, 2015, at North Crest Specialty Care in Waterloo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Visitation: 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with a rosary at 5 p.m. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, with military honors.

Irvin Joseph Dingbaum was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Petersburg, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Dina (Nefzger) Dingbaum. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. On Oct. 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Prier in Prairieburg. Irvin was employed for over 40 years at Herman M. Brown Co. in Cedar Rapids as a heavy equipment mechanic.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Ross Reid American Legion Post 9 of Oelwein. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and mechanical repair.
Irvin is survived by his wife, Mary Dingbaum of Oelwein; five children, Anita (Jim Peters) Dingbaum of Waterloo, Louise (Edward) Adams of Cedar Falls, Daniel (Kim) Dingbaum of Moorpark, Calif., Rebecca (Rick) Wilberding of Waterloo and Victoria (Craig Corkery) Dingbaum of Independence; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Pasker of Manchester; a brother-in-law, Richard Kluesner of Farley; and two sisters-in-law, Elsie Dingbaum of Dyersville and Alice Freiburger of Manchester.
