Larry L. Welp, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly from cancer on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Celebration of Life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wed-nesday, March 18, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Welp of Cedar Rapids; sons, Michael Welp and Ken Reichle, both of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Jeanne (Chad) McLaud and Linda (John) Njau, both of Cedar Rapids; sister, Jan (Chuck) Kroll of Spokane, Wash.; three grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeff Reichle.
Larry was born Nov. 27, 1947, in Estherville, Iowa, son of Clarence and Laurette (Lynch) Welp. He graduated from Estherville High School and Mankato State University. On Dec. 29, 1973, he married Linda Fuller. Larry was the owner and operator of Jim's Food in Cedar Rapids, retiring in 2014.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
