Harper, Bruce A.
Bruce A. Harper, 80, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a Masonic service starting at 5 p.m. Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with military honors following the service.
Bruce Allen Harper was born Aug. 3, 1932, to James and Mary Jordan Harper in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Bruce was united in marriage to Shirley Hamel on June 19, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. He was part owner of Harper's Auto Rebuilders in Cedar Rapids.
Bruce was a past member of Mizpah Masonic Lodge 639 of Cedar Rapids and the El Kahir Shrine Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley; children, Brad Harper of Rosemount, Minn., and Gina Cole (Harper) of Cedar Rapids; and one granddaughter, Erica Cole of Cedar Rapids.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
