Pflughaupt, Bruce
Bruce Pflughaupt, 76, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Jacksonville, Fla., died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Services at 1 p.m. Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Pastor Bob Gleason will officiate. Friends may call after noon Friday at the chapel.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Doris; his children, Ruth (Roger) Cooper of Cedar Rapids, Richard Parsons of Marshalltown, Kandi (Gary) Stake of Jacksonville, Fla., April (Daniel) Dietrich of Cedar Rapids, Shaun (Bruce) Kealey of Buckeye, Ariz. and Tracy (Dean) Pflughaupt-Jandik of Robins; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Judy) Pflughaupt of Arkansas; and a sister Penny (Chas) Riddle of Florida.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robyn Dochterman.
Bruce was born August 3, 1934, in Linn County, the son of Carroll and Nedrie (Price) Pflughaupt. He graduated, valedictorian, from Troy Mills High School. Bruce and Doris (Gleason) were married on March 24, 1956, at Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Collins Radio, owned the White House Restaurant and drove truck for Western Transport, Takin Bros., Iowa Parcel Service and was an owner/operator for 25 years. Bruce's hobbies included gardening, auctioneering and helping Doris with doll making. He loved and was loved greatly by his wife, children and grandchildren.
