Baker, Bruce T.
Bruce T. Baker, 63, of Solon, died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Continuing Care Hospital at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at Brosh Chapel in Solon, with burial to follow in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery near Solon. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon.
Bruce was born August 23, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Richard and Mary Ellen Thornburgh Baker. He graduated from Rogers High School in Toledo. He married Karen Snyder on Sept. 25, 1982 in Toledo. Bruce worked for many years for the Chessie Railroad System and in law enforcement in Ohio. He moved to Iowa and was the director of referees and assistant director of leagues for the Billiard Congress of America until his retirement. Bruce enjoyed riding Harleys, working on Hudson cars and trucks, collecting historical items, fishing and playing pool.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Rhonda (Dave) Miller of Waterville, Ohio, Tonya Baker and Heather Shidler, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alicia Baker of Harper, Brittany Baker of North Liberty; a son, Eric Baker of Solon; 10 grandchildre; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Randall Baker and Rick Baker, both of Toledo, Ohio, and Peter (Tina) Baker of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Brooke Baker.
