Bruce Edmund Marolf of Marion went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018. Visitation: 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service will follow Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
Bruce was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Monticello, Iowa. He lived on farms in Hopkinton, Buck Creek and Alburnett. He graduated from Alburnett High School in 1955. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
Bruce worked most of his life in construction and formed his business, Dan-Bry Construction, in the early 1980s until his retirement. He loved family gatherings, got lost tinkering in his garage and had an infectious smile and laugh.
Bruce married Patti Miller on March 12, 1960.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Patti A. (Miller) Marolf; daughter, Dana Marolf and husband, Bob Roper; son, Bryce Marolf and wife, Colleen Marolf; two granddaughters, Hannah and Vanessa Waters; and three-great grandchildren, Makalyn, Madison and Owen.
He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Stimson; sister, Maxine Heath; two nieces; and three nephews.
Preceding Bruce in death were his parents, Marion C. Marolf and Emily M. (Orr) Marolf; sister, Mary Jean Fleming; an infant brother, Stanley Marolf; also maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bruce's memory.
