Kamberling, Leonard Melvin
Leonard Melvin Kamberling, 87, of Lisbon, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services for Leonard will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon, with military honors. His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial: Mechanicsville Cemetery at a later date.
Surviving Leonard are his family, daughters, Connie (Al) Meier, Susan (Doug) Gray and Kim Madison; sons, Lenny (Jane) Kamberling, Chuck (Kathy) Kamberling, Danny Kamberling, Douglas (Stephanie) Kamberling and James (Kimbra) Kamberling; sister, Marie Thomson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Leonard was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Sutliff, the son of Alvin and Eva Kamberling. He served with the United States Army, during World War II, earning two purple hearts, a bronze star and several other accommodations. Leonard was a member of the Lisbon Cyclops Post #109. Leonard was an ironworker for over 30 years, and was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local #89, Cedar Rapids.
Leonard loved to hang out with his friends at Sutliff and Bill's Tap. He also loved to hunt and fish.
