Springer, H. Rachel Andre
H. Rachel Andre Springer, 94, of Mechanicsville, died Sunday, May 29. 2011, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from septicemia. Private graveside services in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Arrangements with Morgan Funeral Choices, Mount Vernon.
Surviving Rachel are two sons, Gary (Ann) Andre of Bristol, Ind., and Kenneth Andre and Cheryl of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Adam of Peace Tree, Ga., and Stephen and Kelly Andre of Clarksville, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren. Jordan, Jayme, Camryn and Kinnick.
Preceding Rachel in death were her parents; husbands, Lloyd Andre who died in 1976, and Floyd Springer who died in 2007; three sisters; and one brother.
Rachel was born April 21, 1917, in Springville, the daughter of Art and Nellie Caraway Houver and graduated from Springville High School.
In her earlier years, Rachel worked on Andre family farm, Hunt Hardware Store in Mechanicsville, and the Anamosa and Mechanicsville Sale Barn.
Rachel loved the outdoors.
