Hunt, Eleanor
Eleanor Hunt, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at home after a brief illness. Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include her daughters, JoAnne Hunt (Carl Ransford) of Cedar Rapids, Jill Hunt of Dubuque and Denise Hunt of West Des Moines; a sister, Marie Daley of Charles City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert; a sister, Alice; and a son, John.
Eleanor was born Dec. 11, 1928, the daughter of Herman and Alice (Schneider) Coobs, in McGregor, Iowa. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 and worked as a nurse for more than 40 years. Eleanor's greatest joy was her grandkids.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holden Cancer Center at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in Eleanor's memory.
