Good for Tim Brewster - his blog makes some changes for accuracy's sake
Mike Hlas Jun. 12, 2009 3:37 pm
I solemnly swear to stop having fun with Minnesota Gophers football coach Tim Brewster. Unless he provides new fodder, anyway.
Frankly, Brewster delights the Hlog. He is unusually emotive in public and online for a head football coach. Most major-college head coaches are close-to-the-vest types. That makes life easier for them, ultimately, but it doesn't make them more interesting. Not that they care, or should care.
Brewster's blog at http://www.brewcrewreport.com has responded to suggestions the Hlog and others made concerning the accuracy of a claim he made about his coaching record. He, or whoever is in charge of the blog, did so by making changes to be more accurate.
He said it was 113-61-1. It is really 8-17. The blog now says 8-16, which is a lot closer to 8-17 than the previous numbers.
I'll assume Brewster's not counting the Gophers' Insight Bowl loss to Kansas last season for some reason, instead of the 55-0 drubbing against Iowa that was inadvertently omitted from one section of the Gophers' 2009 media guide.
Coach Brew had counted the wins and losses at everywhere he had been an assistant coach, which typically isn't how coaches' career records are computed.
But, thanks to Michael Rand's Randball on the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Web site, we've learned Brewster's blog has amended that record (and corrected some misspellings of player's names).
We move on.
