Larry D. Teigland, 72, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Iowa City VA Health Care System. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids by Pastor Randy Kasch and Pastor Patricia Decker. Visitation: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Randall, Iowa, with military rites. Arrangements are by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, June; daughter, Angie (Tim) ODell of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Garry (Char) Teigland of Washington, Ill., and Diane (Gary) Clark
of Deephaven, Minn.; sister-in-law, Cindy Teigland of Memphis, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Vicki Teigland, Melissa and Aaron Clark, Sydney Teigland, Brittney and Taylor Bryant; his dog, Annie; and granddogs, Jack and Stella.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Brian; and sister-in-law, Michele Teigland.
Larry was born Oct. 27, 1943, in Moline, Ill., son of Richard and Virginia (Mein) Teigland. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and Korea. Larry was united in marriage to June Nelson on March 26, 1967, in Randall, Iowa. He was a recovered alcoholic for 23 years. Larry loved dogs, music and singing in the choir. He was an avid Hawkeye fan. Larry enjoyed spending time at the Iowa Veterans Home, where he played bingo and participated in choir and day trips. Larry also enjoyed his time and work at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Memorials may be directed to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, or Elim Lutheran in Randall.
